A shopping center on Tahliya Street will become the stage for a graffiti art exhibition at the end of June where artists will have a chance to win a Renault Clio. At a press conference at La Promenade 2 on Sunday plans for the upcoming Second Annual Graffiti Art Competition were unveiled. The competition begins on June 25. Miriam Aldainy, PR and Events Director for Pink Fashion PR and Events, said the event was geared towards promoting graffiti not as a form of vandalism but as a legitimate art form. “It is seen as very negative, we're trying to put a more positive light on it,” she said. Graffiti artists will compete in order to win a 2008 Renault Clio provided by Zahid Tractor. Each artist will be given a 2x2 meter space in order to display graffiti skills. The first annual graffiti art exhibition last year, required all participants to be at least 13 years of age. This year's competition has no age group limit and participants can register online at www.zahid-trec.com. Last year's competition was held in the parking area of the La Promenade 2, which featured several dozen artists displaying their work competing for the top prize of SR5000. __
