JEDDAH: The Saudi Electronic and Home Appliances Institute (SEHAI) has started the first OJT or on the job training program this month. The OJT is a SEHAI's program for the second year students, institute officials said. The program seeks to make students understand the work flow and train them on the basic skills needed by the companies sponsoring it. “It's about how they could utilize their basic skills and knowledge they learnt in SEHAI at in actual workplaces,” a SEHAI official said. The first batch of 67 students joined the program on Jan.11th. They started their four-week on-the-job-training in companies like ALJ (Toshiba), Zagzoog (Fujitsu General), Ahmed Zainy Co.(Daikin), Olayan (Toshiba PC & Xerox), Modern Electronics (Sony), Alessa (Hitachi), United Matbouli (Samsung) throughout the Kingdom. SEHAI has instructors and Japanese experts who visited the workshops in Jeddah, Makka, Jazan, Damman, Khobar, Hofuf and Riyadh to assess the situation. The students were checked in punctuality, working hours attendance, teamwork, attitude, appearance, communication skills with customers, along with basic skills and knowledge. The team members were confident that the SEHAI students were relatively well-trained and have acquired the right attitude, including attending to their work regularly. They exchanged ideas and communications to improve trainees' skills. SEHAI students returned to the institute after their four-week training at the companies where they were assigned to do their OJT. Back at SEHAI, they are taught about the latest technology in electronics and home appliances to improve their skills.
