Points clinched his first PGA Tour title with a two-shot victory at the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am Sunday after covering his last five holes in a sizzling three-under par. Two strokes behind going into the final round, Points spectacularly holed out from 100 yards to eagle the par-five 14th on the way to a five-under 67 on the Pebble Beach Golf Links. With his scorching run in bright sunshine after the turn, the 34-year-old charged past overnight leader Steve Marino and US Ryder Cup player Hunter Mahan to post a winning total of 15-under 271. “Pebble Beach may be the most iconic place in America to play golf and to win here is just a dream come true,” a beaming Points said greenside after earning the winner's cheque for $1.116 million. Points was able celebrate to a double victory Sunday as he also triumphed in the pro-am competition with his playing partner Bill Murray, the US actor and comedian. Mahan carded a best-of-the-day 66 to finish alone in second, two strokes better than compatriot Tom Gillis (70). Marino triple-bogeyed the last after pulling his third shot into the ocean to close with a 74 and share fourth place at 10 under with fellow American Spencer Levin (70). World No. 4 Phil Mickelson, a three-time winner here, began the final round five shots off the lead and ended it seven adrift after signing off with a four-bogey 71. Points holed out from the fairway to eagle 14, where his ball bounced forward after landing on a hump at the front of the green, and snatch the outright lead. Points then tightened his grip when he sank a big-breaking 28-footer to birdie the par-four 15th. He coolly parred the last three holes to complete a long-awaited breakthrough, narrowly missing a birdie attempt from 20 feet on the 18th green.
