American firm to tackle underground water problem

JEDDAH: The Jeddah Mayoralty has assigned an American company to handle the high level of underground water in 20 residential districts, mostly in east Jeddah.
The mayoralty took the decision after permission was granted by the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs. Local companies are not considered able to carry out this project.
The mayoralty said it has resorted to the American company after repeated failures by local companies to solve the problem in the past.
A source at the mayoralty who declined to give his name said Mayor Dr. Hani Abu Rass will personally oversee all such projects. These projects will be implemented by the Jeddah Company for Urban Development and the American company.
