RIYADH: The National Recruitment Committee (NRC) at the Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry has suspended from Monday all dealings with Indonesian workers federations. The NRC said the move was prompted by the federations' “failing to comply with signed memorandums of understanding governing their relationship with the committee”. “The committee has always abided by the agreements signed in the memorandums of understanding with the federations, but that commitment has only been from one side,” the NRC said. “The halt in dealings with the Indonesian federations will continue until a federation sending Indonesian workers to the Kingdom exists that commits to the articles protecting the rights of all parties that have been agreed upon.” The NRC advised the public to not request new recruitment visas for Indonesians due to “prices rising excessively once again and the lack of availability of workers which has held up their influx to the Kingdom”. It said that it would inform the relevant authorities of the situation in order for the appropriate measures to be taken.
