RIYADH: The Cabinet welcomed Monday the “peaceful transition of power in Egypt” and hoped it would bring stability and a “national government that meets the aspirations of the brotherly Egyptian people for security, stability and economic prosperity”. Ministers further hoped that Egypt would “continue with its historical role in the Arab, Islamic and international arenas”. The weekly meeting, chaired by Crown Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, discussed the 11th session meetings of the joint Saudi-Moroccan Committee in Rabat and the committee's impact on improving cooperation between the two countries, particularly in strengthening joint private sector investments. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency after the meeting, Abdul Aziz Khoja, Minister of Culture and Information, said the Crown Prince briefed ministers on the telephone call between King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and US President Barack Obama, and the message from Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to King Abdullah which was received by Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz, Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. Minister Khoja said the Crown Prince also briefed the Cabinet on his talks with the visiting French Prime Minister Francois Fillon and Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Jassim Bin Jabr Al-Thani. The Cabinet meeting concluded with approvals for a range of recommendations brought by ministers, a review of domestic issues and approvals of appointments.
