TAIF: The Riyadh Court of Cassation convicted Saturday four officials from the Taif Mayoralty for bribery. 11 others were absolved of the charges. The sentences from the appeals court, which uphold previous rulings from the Board of Grievances, see one of the four sentenced to three years in prison and the others to one year each. All four are dismissed from their posts, with fines of SR10,000 for two, and fines of SR3,000 and SR1,000 for the two others. The verdicts bring to a close the largest administrative corruption case in the history of the Kingdom after seven years of investigation and trials. The sentences are subject to no further appeal and have been submitted to the Makkah Emir's Office for the relevant authorities to put them into effect.
