AHAD RUFAIDH: Wadi Bisha Bridge, which links the western and eastern districts in Ahad Rufaidh Governorate, was closed to cars and pedestrians after large cracks appeared on its surface and part of it collapsed, but many motorists have defied security authorities and driven over it. A source at the company building a two-lane road that passes along the bridge said deep digging and setting down concrete layers on the road resulted in the cracks and the partial collapse. The source blamed the contractor that built the Wadi Bisha Bridge for not laying a thick concrete layer while constructing it; instead, the contractor filled the layer with sand. “Because of this, it is natural that it will be affected by any construction work,” the source said. Okaz/Saudi Gazette tried to contact the head of the municipality in the Ahad Rufaidh Governorate on his mobile phone to clarify the matter, but it was switched off.
