RIYADH: Security patrols in Riyadh are holding an African youth suspected of stealing 121 mobile telephones worth SR100,000. Col. Nasser Al-Qahtani, spokesman of Riyadh Police, said a report was received from an Arab expatriate saying he parked his car near a restaurant in Al-Mansourah District. Moments after entering the restaurant, he heard his car alarm blaring. When he went out to check what was wrong, he saw a young dark-skinned man fleeing with a large quantity of mobile telephones that were in the trunk of his car. The car driven by the young man was later spotted. The youth tried to speed away, but was pursued, cornered and apprehended. Security officers found the stolen mobiles and tools used for opening vehicle doors in his car. He was handed over to Al-Batha Police Station.
