JEDDAH: The Jeddah governorate has said 27,142 individuals from 5,775 families have been provided with accommodation after being forced out of their homes by the recent floods. Muhammad Al-Qarni, spokesman for the governorate's State of Emergency department, said that the provision of accommodation would only continue with “proof of damage”, however. “The authorities will not extend the provision of accommodation for a fourth week unless proof is provided of damage to homes,” Al-Qarni said. “Victims should approach the relevant authorities with evidence of damage over the next two days.” He added that 150 families had returned to their homes following repair work. Al-Qarni said that the flood damage survey had so far registered 17,588 properties, vehicles and commercial outlets as damaged in the floods of two weeks ago Wednesday. The number of real estate property found damaged was 10,318, along with 7,270 vehicles. Survey work, Al-Qarni said, will continue until the end of the week He said that sites were still being searched for the three persons who remain registered as missing since the day of the floods. Of the 10 recorded deaths, he said, all bodies but one have been returned to relatives.
