JEDDAH: The Ministry of Trade and Industry found 2855 gasline stations in breach of commercial fraud regulations last year, according to assistant deputy minister Saleh Al-Khalil. “Ministry inspectors checked 6,338 gas stations and tested 36,042 pumps, 33,187 of which were found to be operating properly and in accordance with the law,” Al-Khalil said. He said that violations found in the remaining pumps included mixing gasline with diesel, and mixing kerosene with petrol, as well as breaches of regulations at oil-change outlets found to be using adulterated oil. “All violators were penalized,” Al-Ruwaili said, and warned: “All companies, manufacturers, importers and gasoline station owners should comply with set regulations and standards specifications or face the penalty.”
