Hareedha Monday. (Okaz photo)DHAMD/RIJAAL ‘ALMA': Police arrested a qat smuggler on the Sabya international highway after a pursuit led to the driver of a speeding vehicle being forcibly restrained. The man was found to be carrying in his car over 4,000 bundles of the banned leaf. Subsequent investigations revealed that the vehicle had been stolen, while the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, the Hai'a, was tasked with destroying its illegal cargo. In the Al-Hareedha border town Monday, meanwhile, a man who attempted to use his wife and mother-in-law as cover was discovered attempting to smuggle into the Kingdom an undisclosed quantity of qat. He was arrested and handed over to the anti-narcotics unit.
