AREQUIPA, Peru: Uruguay and Argentina earned key victories Sunday in South American qualifying for the Under-20 World Cup. Uruguay defeated Chile 1-0 on Adrian Luna's 38th-minute goal, which guaranteed it a spot in the Under-20 World Cup later this year in Colombia. Uruguay, with seven points in three games, is the first South American country to book a place. The top four teams in South American regional qualifying advance to the U20 World Cup, and the top two get berths in the 2012 London Olympics. Argentina defeated Brazil 2-1, taking advantage when Brazil's Juan was sent off on a straight red card after only five minutes. Argentina and Brazil both have six points and need another point in two matches to be sure of advancing – and probably need to win their last two to have hopes of qualifying for London. In a third match Colombia and Ecuador drew 0-0. Ecuador has five points, Colombia one and Chile has lost all three matches. Coach quits over death threats South African Premiership title contenders Mamelodi Sundowns said Saturday that their Spanish coach Antonio Lopez had quit because of death threats. The Pretoria club saw a comfortable lead built during the first half of the 2010-2011 season evaporate after several disappointing performances and it trails leaders Orlando Pirates by three points with 12 rounds left. The Spaniard took over at the beginning of the season last August after previously assisting former Bulgaria striker and 1994 European Footballer of the Year Hristo Stoichkov.
