JIZAN: An elderly man was conned out of SR30,000 by a youth who stole his card at an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) in Ahad Al-Masariha Governorate on Thursday. The young man had offered to help the illiterate man carry out a financial transaction from his account at the ATM. The youth helped the old man by withdrawing the required amount and handing it over to him. However, he did not return the man's ATM card. Instead he gave the man another card. The man left without suspecting anything, but when he later tried to use the ATM card to withdraw money, he found it did not work. He then realized he had been conned by the youth. The man immediately went to the bank's branch and discovered his account had no money. He realized that the young man had withdrawn all the money, totaling SR30,000. The victim reported the matter to the Ahad Al-Masariha Police Station. An investigation was opened and the youth's description was taken. Capt. Abdullah Mu'eedh Al-Qarni, Spokesman of Jizan Region Police, said the police have opened an investigation into the case to catch the conman. “Old people and those who don't know how to use ATMs should ask for the help of a trustworthy relative to carry out bank transactions, so that they are not conned by weak-spirited people,” Al
