Jeddah: The Jeddah Mayoralty has returned an amount of SR430 million from last year's budget to the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs. Informed sources told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that the reason for this is that some projects were not carried out and that there were no authorized officials to approve these projects. They said that some control bodies, in coordination with the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, suspended some of the mayor's deputies from work. This resulted in delays in issuing tenders for these projects. The sources said these amounts were not allocated for sewage projects but for public service and infrastructure projects. This forced the ministry to transfer a portion of these allocations to other municipalities including Al-Ahsa municipality. Muhammad Al-Yamai, Director of Public Relations at the mayoralty, said all the problems and issues raised about the flood canals are on the desk of the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs.
