Bulleros continues its run in Hempel Darts Cup 2008
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 14 - 06 - 2008

After dropping its first two games early in the tournament, Bulleros Darts Team continued its astonishing run by recording two convincing wins recently a repeat of its two other wins the previous week leading to its fourth consecutive win in Hempel Darts Cup 2008 here.
Bulleros, led by veteran campaigners Mario Lorenzo, Noel Ramilo, Dodong Salas, Louis Hermogenes and new recruit Ronald Chua of Caravan Cargo, took the measure of current leader Afico Striker-3 early in the match before romping away with a 9-4 win in its first game.
Salas had a huge game producing his second T80 and went undefeated with 3-0, Ramilo 3-1, Lorenzo 2-1 and Chua 1-2 while on the losing side Afico Striker's Mel Ponce played outstanding with 3-0 but without the vital support from teammates as Jommel Laynesa went 1-2 and both Abel Fari?as and Marlon Gonzales went scoreless in the game.
Bulleros' second game against Al-Mana Los Darteros was surprisingly much stiffer than expected as it went down to the penultimate 15th match before beating the lowly Los Darteros with a hard-earned 9-6 score.
Salas continued his domination posting 4-0 slate but the sterling performance of Lorenzo, who went 3-0, was the big factor as he started out with a cherry-out (Bulls eye) win on the first game then went on to produce the highest 3-darts out finish at 120 on his third game matching Dart Vaders Benjie Tamayo's feat but behind Dart Vaders-1 record holder Noel Marte Dizon's 127.
It was Bulleros fourth win in a row; the longest so far in the tournament while Al-Mana absorbed its seventh straight setbacks.
Afico Striker-2 led by Gary Terso, Chris Calalo, Ronald Galvan, Nonoy Coraza and Gary Tolentino also had its own mini-run winning its last three outings, with two games won on the back of a lone win the previous week while grabbing the league best 4-1 overall record.
The Strikers had an easy time against Al-Mana Los Darteros in their first game winning 9-2.Its match versus Hempel's Dart Vaders-1 was a classic as the Strikers rallied from 1-7 deficit and forced the decider 1001-team match plays, then overcame a 300+ points deficit at the bottom of the team event before stealing a 9-8 win against the stunned Dart Vaders-1.
Other results: Dart Vaders-2 outlasted Afico Striker-1 with the score of 9-7; and Afico Striker-4 defeated JAL Arrows 9-6.
