Tayyar Lions emerged champion of Lufthansa BMI Super Eight Cricket League which was conducted by Lufthansa and BMI for all the travel agencies here. The event was co-sponsored by Almarai and Riyadh Cricket Association and was played at RCA grounds here. In all 26 teams, including the leading travel agencies Al-Tayyar, Fursan, Bin Ghaith, Kanoo, Al-Mousim, Al-Dawleayah, Al-Sarh, Dnata, Al-Muayed, Port Folio, ACE Travel, Al-Theyab Travel, Arabian Travel, Sayar Travel and Amer Travel took part in the championship. in the final, Al-Tayyar Lions thrashed Kanoo Travels by 6 wickets. Batting first, Kanoo Travels made 63 in the allotted 6 overs. Hilmi was instrumental in containing Kanoo as he struck two crucial blows on successive deliveries. In reply, Al-Tayyar Lions were in an attacking mood and overhauled the opponents total in just 4 overs. Again all-rounder Hilmi stole the show by remaining unbeaten on 32. He was rightly chosen as the Man of the Match in the final as well as the Bowler of the Tournament. In the semifinals, Al-Tayyar XI lost to Kanoo Travels in a tight finish. Al-Tayyar XI made 87 runs in the allotted 8 overs while Kanoo Travels overhauled the total in the seventh over with Vikram finishing of in style with an unbeaten 33. He also claimed two wickets for his team and was adjudged as the Man of the Match. In the other semifinal, Al-Tayyar Lions beat Fursan Travels by six wickets. Opting to bat first, Fursan scored 79 runs in the allotted 8 overs. Al-Tayyar Lions chased the total in just 6 overs for six wickets. A fine unbeaten partnership between Niroshan Rupasinghe (32) and Ilhum (25) led the team to victory. Ilhum was adjudged as the Man of the Match for his allround performance of unbeaten 32 and 2 wickets. Zulqarnain Mallick of Al-Tayyar XI was awarded Man of the Match in the pre-quarterfinals for his brilliant bowling. Maaz of Al-Tayyar XI was awarded Man of the Match for his brilliant batting during the quarterfinal match. Fayaz of Al-Tayyar Lions was adjudged as the Man of the Match in the league stage. The prizes were given away to the winning team Altayyar Lions and the best performers on the ground by the Country Managers of Lufthansa and BMI Management. __
