(SG photo) JEDDAH: The 62nd Indian Republic Day was celebrated at the consulate premises by the Indian community Wednesday. Sayed Ahmed Baba, the consul general, hoisted the flag. This was followed by Indian International School students singing the national anthem and patriotic songs. Baba congratulated his fellow citizens on the occasion and delivered the message of Pratibha Devising Patil, the Indian president, who appealed to Indians to never resort to violence, to demonstrate moral courage and work towards the progress of the country. Baba called on the community to act on the message of the president. “The president's message contains rich information for the whole Indian community from education development to the responsibilities of a good citizen.” He said he sympathizes with the Indian expats who are living under the Kandara Bridge who are stuck in a legal bind. “I would like to tell them to be patient. We are doing whatever is feasible to send them back home as early as possible.”
