RIYADH: Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, Emir of Riyadh and Chairman of the Regional Council, presided over the first session of the Council for the new fiscal year 2011 at Al-Hukm Palace in Riyadh, Wednesday. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Suleiman Bin Mohammed Al-Qannas, the Council's Secretary General, said the Council reviewed the issues and was briefed on reports of the preparatory committees for the improvement of educational, health, economic and other services. He said the council adopted the necessary decisions on this issue and also endorsed a report of a committee formed by the Riyadh Mayoralty and Ministry of Education. The report included the land chosen for the implementation of educational projects in Riyadh and its governorates. He said the council emphasized the importance of equalizing the tuitions fees of private schools and also called on the Industrial Cities Authority to speed up the execution of projects ordered by Prince Salman. The council also approved the formation of a team consisting of the Secretary General of the Industrial Cities Authority and Deputy Mayor of Riyadh for Municipalities Affairs in the region and Head of the Economic Committee at the council. This followed an order from Prince Salman. He said the council also approved steps to solve sanitary drainage problems in eastern Al-Nadheem District. The council also watched a documentary film in which the Minister of Water and Electricity spoke about the water situation in the Kingdom. It thanked the minister for efforts to conserve and develop desalinated water projects to support the water reserve in the region.
