TABUK: The Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) has approved the holding of three winter festivals in Tabuk and Al-Wajh Governorate to be supervised by the Executive Department for Tourism and the Tourism Development Council in the region. The festivals' activities are scheduled to be launched at the beginning of the mid-year school vacation. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Nasser Bin Ahmad Al-Khuraissi, Executive Director of the Tourism Department in Tabuk Region, said the “Khail wa Hail” (Horse and Cardamom) and “Fallah Car” (Fun Car) festivals would be held in cooperation with a number of national establishments and companies. The festivals are expected to include various heritage, sports and recreation programs; horse and camel races, fireworks shows, exhibitions that depict the advancement and development of the Tabuk region; and the participation of productive families under the auspices of charitable societies in the region. He said “Al-Wajh – Our Destination” Festival will be held in Al-Wajh Governorate and will include sports competitions, traditional games, handicrafts, sea voyages, plays, heritage sections, sail-boat races and rowing competitions. Al-Khuraissi confirmed that the SCTA is eager to hold such recreational festivals in collaboration with the private sector. It also aims to ensure visitors can spend an enjoyable time with their families during this holiday.
