JEDDAH: A total of 123,455 female students at 461 intermediate and secondary schools sat for the first semester examinations on Sunday, said Ahmad Al-Zahrani, Director of Girls' Education in Jeddah. The progress of the examinations was monitored by 823 female education supervisors, who had to submit daily reports on the progress of school committees and record their observations. Faiza Own, Director of the Education Supervision Administration, said that evening schools were a suitable educational environment for female students. She added that female supervisors are prepared to visit all the schools to ensure the smooth flow of work and to provide safety and moral support during this period. Own confirmed that the guardians of the female students had been sent awareness leaflets to prepare them for the examinations. The leaflets contained information on how parents could create an atmosphere conducive for study so their children could approach this period with confidence and peace of mind. She added that the Administration has a plan prepared for any emergencies. The medical teams of the Girls' Education Administration in Jeddah have started their inspections of the intermediate and secondary schools to check on the health and psychological situation of female students sitting for the examinations and to provide first aid in emergency cases. Each medical team comprises a female doctor and nurse provided with a first-aid box for emergency cases.
