RIYADH: The drug menace facing the Kingdom is the responsibility of everyone in the Kingdom, said Prince Nawaf Bin Faisal Bin Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz, President of the General Presidency of Youth Welfare, who is also a member of the National Anti-Narcotics Committee. Prince Nawaf also commended Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz, Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior, who is also the Chairman of the National Anti-Narcotics Committee, for his role in confronting the issue and instituting measures to protect the Kingdom from the scourge of narcotics. In a press statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on the occasion of the committee's meeting, which was chaired by Prince Naif last week, Prince Nawaf said the “menace of narcotics is a national responsibility that should be shouldered by society”. He said there was a “dire need” for narcotics prevention. The Prince indicated that the Presidency of Youth Welfare has been keen to be a major partner in the programs of the National Anti-Narcotics Committee. He said the presidency is helping to ensure a national strategy to combat drugs is being realized, as part of Prince Naif's vision. He said scientific studies carried out in the field were being used to formulate the anti-drugs strategy. This is to ensure the best preventive, therapeutic and rehabilitation programs.
