JEDDAH: A source at the Administrative Court in Jeddah has said that it has heard 150 out of 250 disciplinary cases related to government employees brought last year. According to the source, the cases involve administrative and financial violations “exceeding the bounds of staff duties or a breach of duties”. Jeddah is followed in the number of cases heard by Riyadh and Dammam. “No more than one percent of defendants were found innocent,” the source said. “Sentences have included dismissal from post, the withholding of bonuses, the deduction of three months' salary, and warnings,” he said. “Accusations involving moral impropriety were few, while the highest proportion of cases involved drug-related crimes and banned pills.” He added that the Board of Monitoring and Investigation had passed since the beginning of the year 15 government employees around the country to disciplinary circuits at the Board of Grievances, located in Riyadh, Makkah, Madina, Jeddah, Dammam, Abha, Sakaka, Hail, and Buraidah.
