MAKKAH: A father has complained about a principal of a kindergarten operating under the Holy Qur'an Memorization Society in Makkah who, he said, suspended his two children after he did not pay scholastic fees. The father objected to the decision and said it contravenes the regulations of the Ministry of Education, which clearly state that no student should be suspended or barred from going to school if parents fail to pay fees. “At the beginning, the administration at the kindergarten tried to play around and didn't hand over the books to the children, then it suspended them until they paid the rest of the fees, which total SR4,000,” the father said. The man said this led him to enroll his children in another kindergarten and seek a refund for the installment he paid, but the principal rejected his request for the money. A source at the Holy Qur'an Memorization Society in Makkah, who expressed the Society's discontent about the principal's action, made it clear that the Ministry of Education's regulations allow children to pursue their education if parents fail to pay fees. In such cases, the school's administration should follow the proper channels to get the school fees and parents reserve the right to claim any installments they have paid, the source added.
