JEDDAH: The King Abdul Aziz Endowment for Ain Al-Azizia (Al-Azizia Spring) and the Charity Warehouse in Jeddah are scheduled to sign an agreement Saturday to launch the first charity project of its kind in the Kingdom – to provide poor and needy families in Jeddah with potable water. More than 6,000 families will benefit from the program; three 19-liter jerry cans per week will be distributed to each family registered with the Charity Warehouse and two 13,000-liter tanker trucks will supply the water, said Faisal Bin Abdul Rahman Al-Humaid, Director General of the Charity Warehouse in Jeddah. The project is to be executed through a national company under direct supervision of the King Abdul Aziz Endowment for Ain Al-Azizia. The families' locations have been pinpointed using Geographic Positioning System, through the Charity Warehouse's social research centers, Al-Humaid added. The signing, by Abdullah Bin Abdul Rahman Al-Hussayyen, Minister of Agriculture and Water, and Sheikh Abdullah Bin Abdul Rahman Al-Othaim, President of Jeddah's District Court and Chairman of the Charity Warehouse in Jeddah, will take place at the headquarters of the King Abdul Aziz Endowment for Ain Al-Azizia, at the city's old airport. This project compliments the Charity Warehouse's services, which include providing food, clothing, furniture, housing and training, Al-Humaid said. The Charity Warehouse in Jeddah Governorate sponsors thousands of poor families and provides food through the distribution of a magnetized card to each family, he added.
