RIYADH: Participants in the seminar on the “Role of Arab Media in Addressing the Phenomenon of Terrorism” have called on the media in the Arab world to prepare a manual of editing policies, a book of style for every Arab media institution in order to ensure the standardization of terminology and policies on core issues. The participants made the call at the end of their three-day meeting organized by the Arab Naif Academy for Security Sciences in Riyadh. The participants called for organizing scientific meetings dealing with the use of the Internet in raising awareness of security and preparing Arab legislation governing media activity on the Internet. They called for holding workshops involving media and security experts and operators of satellite television channels to activate the Charter of Media Honor adopted by the Council of Arab Ministers of Information in 2007. They urged various Arab media outlets to take into account the social responsibility and preservation of the homeland and its integrity and national unity as a priority when covering terrorist incidents and addressing the issues of terrorism through the activation of the Charter of Media Honor.
