RIYADH: The Saudi Council of Engineers will hand out certificates Saturday night to the graduates of the council's program which was held for the first time in cooperation with the Bin Laden Group. Adel Fakieh, the Minister of Labor, is expected to attend. Ghazi Bin Muhammad Al-Ahmadi, the council's Secretary General, said the program was aimed at preparing engineers for working in the private and public sectors. It includes 100 engineers specializing in civil, planning and architectural engineering, he added. He pointed out that the program is aimed at engineers who want to obtain the professional skills required to occupy engineering jobs, develop capacity in accordance with international standards and programs that guarantee quality and good performance, improve administrative skills and get acquainted with recent engineering developments. Cooperation is also being worked out with other bodies such as universities, engineering training centers, companies and institutions. The minister is expected to discuss ways to support engineers professionally, including issues such as classification, vocations, classification for expatriates, and a mechanism for amending the vocation for engineers who received certificates from unrecognized universities.
