NAJRAN: A citizen has blamed the Health Directorate in Najran for the deterioration of his wife's health, who is in a coma in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of King Khaled Hospital in Najran. The husband said his wife's critical condition makes it inevitable that she will have to be moved to an advanced medical center inside or outside the Kingdom. Saleh Bin Ali Aal Dhaiba, Spokesman of the Najran Health Directorate, said the woman's husband has lodged a complaint with the directorate against the hospital. The directorate has formed a committee to probe the complaint. He said the committee found that the patient was first brought to the hospital's emergency suffering from cardiac arrest and the cardiac team at the hospital resuscitated her and prescribed the necessary treatment. He denied any shortcoming or negligence on the part of the medical team, pointing out that the patient was still receiving treatment in the ICU. The husband claimed that when he arrived at the hospital his wife was only suffering from fever and cough but her condition deteriorated after she was admitted. He said she lapsed into a coma because of the allegedly reckless and negligent actions of the medical team. He said he had brought his 52-year-old wife to the hospital on a Thursday morning three weeks ago. They called the cardiologist, who came late, despite repeated calls, he claimed. His wife then collapsed, he said. He claimed that after a half an hour she suffered from seizures which resulted in her being admitted to the ICU.
