MADINA: Following an order from King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Qur'an in Madina is to open the Qur'an Digital Research Center in order to preserve Qur'anic texts on the Internet from corruption and error. Muhammad Al-Oufi, Secretary General of King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Qur'an, said that the new center has expert scholars as well as technicians and specialists in computers and technology to act as the “sole authority” for computer programs and websites dedicated to the sciences and recitation of the Qur'an. “Due to the lack of a certified authority errors have occasionally been discovered in Qur'anic verses which are circulated on specialized sites on the Internet without anyone noticing,” he said. “The specialists will study and analyze Qur'anic texts at the request of electronic sources and ensure they are free from error. Only then will digital certificates be issued,” he said. Al-Oufi said the certificate will constitute a “digital license” to publish the verified texts. “The center is a reflection of the efforts made by the Kingdom in the service of the Book of Allah, the concern of the country's leadership for its sciences through the printing complex, and its concern to ensure the Qur'anic text appearing in computer works is sound and free of errors,” Al
