SABIA: The Education Administration and the municipality in Sabia have blamed each other for delaying a school project worth SR45 million. The foundation stone of the building was laid five years ago. After the foundation stone was laid, the municipality stopped the project and distributed the land as grants to citizens as part of a plan to expand a street in the city. This move ignited the crisis between the two bodies. Ibrahim Al-Hazimi, Director of the Sabia Education Administration, said the project was part of the Jizan Education department. This department was previously merged with the Sabia education department into one body. Muhammad Al-Raiyani, Director of Education Information at the Jizan Administration, said: “The former contractor delayed executing the project so it was awarded to another one. The municipality in Sabia objected but the issue had been settled and the matter is now with the Jizan Mayor's Office”. Abu Bakr Mat'har, head of the Sabia municipality, refused to talk about the matter and only said a committee from the region's Emir's Office has been formed to look into the case.
