JEDDAH: The National Institute of Entrepreneurship in Jeddah has placed 27 entrepreneurs in the job market in various professions and activities recently after they completed the final two courses of the “Your business is never too small” scheme. Mohammad Al-Khalid, head of the institute in Jeddah, said that the organization aims to promote a culture of free enterprise and helping young people start their own private businesses. To be accepted onto the program applicants must be Saudis of 21 years of age or over, have no other commercial project, and exhibit seriousness and experience in the required field. Conditions set by the Saudi Credit and Savings Bank apply, and the bank has given over SR22 million to assist young people in the Jeddah region over the last three years. “In that time, 158 persons in Jeddah have benefited from the entrepreneurship project to work in around 52 fields of activity, from fast food to aluminum production to desalination,” Al-Khalid said. The National Institute of Entrepreneurs was started by the Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources and the National Institute for Technical and Vocational Training to help young people obtain qualifications and training to set up their own small and medium-sized businesses.
