(Okaz photo)ABHA: Five people died and 12 were injured in car accidents in the Asir region as a result of the heavy rain and dense fog that hit the region Tuesday. Three people died in a collision that involved a number of cars and trucks on King Abdullah Road. On Ballahmar Road, a driver died in a collision and a pedestrian was run over by a car driving in the fog. General Abdul Wahid Bin Owaiyed Al-Thubaiti, Director of the Civil Defense in Asir, expressed condolences to the families of those who died and called on residents to be cautious and not to try to cross flooded areas or pools of water. Several accidents were recorded on the Abha to Taif road and the highway between Abha and Khamis Mushayt because of the fog and the slippery road. Car accidents were also recorded in the cities of Abha, Khamis Mushayt and Annamas, due to the wet roads. An accident on the Abha to Khamis Mushayt road involved 10 cars, caused by drivers losing control in the wet conditions. There were several other minor accidents in other streets. The rainfall also caused repeated power cuts in some Abha districts.
