Penguins down Boston 3-2

BOSTON: Jordan Staal scored in the third period to help the Pittsburgh Penguins beat Boston 3-2 Saturday and avoid another collapse against the Bruins.
Five days after giving up four goals in the final 3:23 to hand a victory to Boston, the Penguins blew another two-goal lead before recovering to win without Sidney Crosby for just the second time in five games. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 44 shots for his 20th win of the season.
Tuukka Rask made 33 saves for the Bruins, and Dennis Seidenberg and Michael Ryder scored 13 seconds apart in the second period to erase a 2-0 deficit.
But Staal backhanded a loose puck in front past Rask to make it 3-2. Chris Kunitz and Pascal Dupuis also scored for the Penguins.
Red Wings 6, Blue Jackets 5, OT: In Detroit, Johan Franzen scored 45 seconds into overtime to give Detroit a win over Columbus.
Drew Miller had a goal and two assists, and Jonathan Ericsson and Kris Draper each added a goal and an assist for Detroit. Joey MacDonald made 24 saves.
Rick Nash had a goal and two assists, and Derick Brassard and Grant Clitsome posted a goal and an assist each for Columbus. Steve Mason stopped 28 shots.
Canadiens 3, Rangers 2: In Montreal, Roman Hamrlik and Tomas Plekanec scored power-play goals as Montreal blitzed the New York Rangers with three goals in the first period.
James Wisniewski assisted on both power-play goals. He set up Hamrlik's tying goal 13:19 in and Plekanec's 14th goal, which made it 2-1, at 14:50. Andrei Kostitsyn also scored for Montreal. Carey Price made 31 saves for the Canadiens. Montreal is on a 5-1-1 run.
Islanders 5, Sabres 3: In Uniondale, New York, John Tavares scored three goals for his second NHL hat trick, and Rick DiPietro made 40 saves to help the New York Islanders beat Buffalo and end a three-game losing streak.
Panthers 3, Devils 2, OT: In Sunrise, Florida, Dmitry Kulikov fired a high wrist shot past Martin Brodeur 3:36 into overtime as Florida topped New Jersey for its third straight win.
Hurricanes 6, Lightning 4: In Raleigh, North Carolina, Jussi Jokinen scored two goals to lift Carolina over Tampa Bay.
Coyotes 6, Ducks 2: In Glendale, Arizona, Ray Whitney scored two goals and added an assist to help Phoenix beat Anaheim.
