RIYADH: The aim of the Andalusia Gardens Exhibition is to emphasize the importance of cooperation in preserving the mutual historical heritage of Western and Eastern cultures. This was the comment made by Princess Adela Bint Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz when she opened the exhibition in Riyadh Sunday with the wife of the Spanish Ambassador to the Kingdom, at the headquarters of the National Museum in Riyadh. She said the exhibition reflects the creativity and innovation of the Andalusian civilization and initiatives to document various achievements in science and arts of “that rich age”. She said the National Museum in Riyadh hosts, at various times, local and international exhibitions which enrich the cultural sense. This exhibition serves as a gesture of appreciation to the people of Andalusia for their craving and passion for gardens in the East, added Princess Adela. She paid tribute to the Spanish Ambassador to the Kingdom Pablo Bravo and his wife Sonsoles Vallina for showcasing the different cultural dimensions of the Andalusian civilization in the Kingdom, to which the Arabs had contributed. She said the exhibition serves as a unique opportunity to revive this joint heritage shared by the Spanish and Arab people. She said both countries believe in peaceful coexistence, interfaith dialogue and the creation of societies based on knowledge and science. Addressing the visitors, the wife of the Spanish ambassador said her country was a mixture of many cultures. The Andalusia Age was one of the richest periods in her country's history. “No one can speak about Spain without referring to the historical age of Andalusia which stretched over eight centuries. Without the contribution of Princess Adela, this exhibition would not have taken place,” she said.
