Faisal, Emir of Makkah, has praised the work of the region's police force and called for “even greater efforts in the service of the nation”. Prince Khaled made the remarks to the regional chief of police Jazaa' Al-Amri upon receiving the half-yearly report on police work in Makkah. The report showed that the last six months saw officers involved in 2,387 police tasks resulting in the arrest of 384 Saudis and non-Saudis. Criminal cases were put at 466, their nature ranging from alcohol production, drug dealing, car theft and prostitution. Other offenses included the renting out of motorbikes, camels and horses at the Jeddah Corniche, some 12,569 traffic fines at checkpoints, and 364 breaches of residency laws and Umrah regulations.
