RIYADH: A renowned Saudi scholar will disseminate religious and cultural information through “Zain Al-Khair,” an innovative mobile service that is aimed at creating a culture of love and tolerance. Abdullah Bin Hussein Al-Damer, Corporate Communications Manager, Zain Saudi Arabia, said the service was launched last month in collaboration with Shaikh Dr. Abdullah Bin Ayed Al-Qarni. “The service consists of 18 interactive channels, offering content varying from text messages to video clips,” said Al-Damer. Al-Damer said that the company was pleased to work with Dr. Al-Qarni, who has earned a reputation as a religious personality for promoting tolerance, love and affection among people. “We attach great importance to the dissemination of information on religious issues and cultural awareness in society,” he said. The service will provide customers with social and religious content from the writings and teachings of Dr. Al-Qarni, he said. Zain will transmit to its subscribers tips on issues of self-contentment and social upbringing, he said. There are four audio-video channels allocated for the service. One channel will broadcast 1,000 ways to a better life while another explains the significance of safeguarding against black magic and how to protect oneself from the evil eye, Al-Damer added. The remaining 14 channels will be devoted to raising social and cultural awareness. “Dr. Al-Qarni's Islamic teachings will be available in simplified text and video clips sent to a subscriber's mobile phone,” he said. Subscribers will also benefit from Dr. Al-Qarni's words of wisdoms based on his lectures, poetry, articles and other general information, he said. He said the agreement was signed at Zain Saudi Arabia headquarters in Riyadh. Dr. Al-Qarni has expressed his satisfaction in working with a mobile phone operator for spreading religious knowledge. “I am delighted to work with Zain Saudi Arabia, a pioneering company, which is also dedicated to the well being of society,” Dr. Al-Qarni was quoted as saying. “Zain Al-Khair” will deliver good words to fellow Muslims wherever they may be, he added. According to Al-Damer, the service has been receiving a good response from customers, who he said have benefited through interactive religious content supported by a variety of text messages and video clips. ?Al-Damer said the service is receiving an encouraging response largely because of Dr. Al-Qarni's reputation in the Islamic world. “Zain Al-Khair” is disseminating a message of peace for people of all ages, cultures and creed, he said.
