All crew dead RIYADH: A medical evacuation helicopter belonging to the Armed Forces Medical Services crashed in Al-Hayer Area, about 35 km south of Riyadh, Friday morning. The helicopter was on a medical evacuation mission for a patient from Hotat Bani Tamim, according to an official source in the Ministry of Defense and Aviation and Inspectorate General. The crash led to the death of the helicopter's medical crew comprising Captain Pilot Khalid Bin Juluwi Bin Abdullah Al-Dakheel; his assistant First Lt. Pilot Mandeel Bin Faleh Bin Bani Al-Sibei; Amjad Al-Iraqi, an Egyptian doctor; and the Filipina nurse Rozila. Kattab Al-Otaibi, the head of the Armed Forces Medical Services, said later in the day that the reasons for the crash were still unknown, but that investigations had begun to try and determine the cause. A source at the Medical Evacuation Center said the center had lost communication with the helicopter at 7 A.M. with no prior warning. “As soon as communication was lost a search team was sent out and located the aircraft,” the source said. “The bodies recovered from the wreckage were taken to the Armed Forces Hospital.”
