JEDDAH: Only 13 of 147 hotels have been classified as 5-star in Makkah, according to the classification of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA). There are eight 4-Star, 62 3-Star and 64 2-Star hotels. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah, received a report on the new classification on Wednesday. Prince Sultan Bin Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, Chairman of the SCTA, announced the completion of the second stage of the SCTA's hotel classification process. The second stage will include Makkah and Madina hotels. Prince Khaled received at his office in Jeddah Wednesday Muhammad Bin Abdullah Al-Amri, the SCTA Executive Director in Makkah Province, and Abdullah Al-Sawwat, the Director of Licenses and Investment at the SCTA in Makkah. Prince Khaled praised SCTA and Prince Sultan Bin Salman's efforts, and expressed hope the new classification will help to improve hotel services in the two holy cities to international standards, and ensure a balance in terms of the services for pilgrims on the one hand and investors on the other hand. Al-Amri said the classification was the result of the collective efforts of the Makkah Chamber and Makkah Mayor's Office.
