LOS ANGELES: Jonathan Toews scored the winning goal off his own skate at 14:33 of the third period, giving the Chicago Blackhawks a 4-3 victory over the Los Angeles Kings Monday to end a three-game losing streak. The defending Stanley Cup champions swept the Kings in four games for the first time since 1981-82, when they went 3-0-0 against them. Patrick Sharp continued his success against Los Angeles, scoring two goals and assisting on another. His three points gave him eight this season against the Kings. Sharp's two goals gave Chicago the lead both times until Ryan Smyth tied it 3-3 for the Kings on a drive that broke his stick at 12:42 of the third. Canucks 4, Sharks 3: At San Jose, California, Alexandre Burrows scored midway through the third period as Vancouver held on to beat San Jose. Daniel Sedin, Alexander Edler and Jannik Hansen also scored for the Canucks, who improved to 8-0-1 in their past nine road games and 15-1-2 in their past 18 overall. Cory Schneider stopped 32 of 35 shots. Ryane Clowe, Patrick Marleau and Jamal Mayers scored for the Sharks, who lost for the third time in their past nine games. Antti Niemi made 43 saves. The victory lifted Vancouver into the top spot in the West with 55 points while San Jose stayed in the fourth spot. Bruins 2, Maple Leafs 1: At Toronto, Marc Savard scored the tiebreaking goal and Tuukka Rask stopped 36 shots to help Boston down Toronto. Nathan Horton also scored for the Bruins. Mikhail Grabovski had the Maple Leafs' goal and James Reimer – making his second straight start for Toronto –had 31 saves. Islanders 5, Flames 2: At Calgary, Alberta, John Tavares had two goals and an assist,and Matt Moulson also scored twice as New York beat Calgary. New York starting goalie Rick DiPietro made 13 saves for the win before leaving with an apparent lower-body injury. Panthers 4, Hurricanes 3, OT: At Raleigh, North Carolina, Bryan Allen scored 1:16 into overtime to lift Florida over Carolina.
