JANOUB: Citizens in Sarat Obeidah Governorate have objected to the Al-Rabou'ah Municipality, in the west of the governorate, constructing a sanitary drainage project on a piece of land in the area. They stressed that the plot of land located in Al-Rake' District is owned by the children of a Saudi national, Raqe' Mas'oud Al-Talidi. There is an old house on the property inhabited by a citizen and his family. Misfir Salman Al-Talidi, a representative of the inheritors, said there was an objection to this site earlier and a committee was formed in 2007 comprising the Al-Rabou'ah Municipality's Head of Technical Affairs and the Director General of Properties in the Water and Sanitary Drainage Department in Asir Region. The location for the project was then shifted to Al-Majza' District, far away from the urban area. At that time, the head of the municipality was changed, and the latter returned the site to the inheritors. The inheritors' representative said the family has important testimonies from the sheikh of the tribe, Nasser Salim Al-Talidi, some elderly people in the region, the Imam and Khateeb of Al-Rabou'ah Grand Mosque and the natives of Al-Rabou'ah center proving that the plot of land belongs to them; and that it is located next to the properties owned by their uncles after the division of the inherited land. The inheritors do not have any other property and the plot they own has been in use since 1967. Meanwhile, Muhammad Bakawasah, Head of Al-Rabou'ah Municipality, said this land is suitable for sanitary drainage and there is no legal title deed proving that the inheritors are the owners. It has, therefore, been handed over to the Ministry of Water in Abha. However, the representative of the inheritors said they have been demanding a title deed for their land for many years, but a stumbling block has been a government decision to halt the issue of title deeds for border areas.
