JEDDAH: The Makkah Literary Club has invited the public to a lecture entitled “Expressing one's opinion and the controls in the Islamic Shariah” by Dr. Khaled Dayil Al-Shamrani at the Public Library in Makkah's Al-Zaher District. In another development, the literary club recently hosted the participants in the King Abdul Aziz Qur'an Memorization Contest, which also included a contest on the intonation and interpretation of the meaning of Qur'anic verses. At the function, a lecture was delivered entitled “The scientific miracle in the Qur'an and Sunnah” by Sheikh Salah Bin Abdul Kareem Fatani, who said belief is not freedom of conduct but a necessity. He pointed out that the objective of talking about the scientific miracle in the Qur'an and Sunnah is to revive contemplation of Allah's Book, which is an act of worship. For his part, Dr. Muhammad Muraisi Al-Harthi said no one can equal the eloquence of the Qur'an. Allah Almighty has challenged people to come with a surah (chapter) similar to the ones in the Qur'an. Al-Harthi stressed that the Qur'an is a book of guidance and not of science.
