DAMMAM: The Saudi Railways Organization (SRO) is in the process of signing annual contracts with insurance companies specializing in insuring train passengers as well as the property and machinery of the organization. The contracting process with insurance companies will be done through a public competition, Muhammad Abu Zeid, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Saudi Railways Organization told Okaz/Saudi Gazette. Abu Zeid said the SRO has started the process and it is now preparing to receive offers from interested insurance companies. He said that the most suitable offer meeting the SRO's conditions and requirements would be selected. He said the insurance would cover – besides the property and machinery of the SRO – all the passengers using the organization's trains as well as any goods transported by them. Meanwhile, the organization is expected to soon complete construction projects aimed at protecting railway lines. It is now in the process of constructing bridges to enable vehicles to pass over railways and it has recently taken possession of 28 vehicle flyovers which have been built for that purpose.
