JEDDAH: A committee including representatives from the Jeddah Governorate and Civil Defense to assess damage caused by rain that hit the city Thursday has started surveying houses in the Umm Al-Khair District. The committee members visited affected houses and assessed the damaged household property, doors, windows and water tanks in preparation to submit a report to the Ministry of Finance. The ministry will appoint a committee to estimate the compensation and approve the necessary allocations. The committee charged with inspecting damaged vehicles, including insured cars, has started inspecting them in preparation to send claims to insurance companies. A housing committee has housed 62 families displaced by the floods in furnished flats and an order has been issued to provide the dwellings for an initial period of one week.
