ABHA: Heavy rain and flash floods that hit Al-Huraidhah, Al-Qahmah, Al-Birk and Dhahban centers damaged property in western Abha, but no deaths or injuries were reported, officials said. Flash floods gushed in Dablasah and Al-Araij valleys and the dykes did not block the water, which stormed into citizens' homes, according to officials. The heavy downpour resulted in water inundating about four houses near the sea, in Al-Qahmah center, said Lt. Col. Muhammad Al-Assimi, spokesman of the Civil Defense in Asir Region. Civil Defense teams arrived at the damaged houses and took the necessary measures, he said. The flow of traffic on Jeddah-Jizan International Road near Al-Qahmah center was disrupted for more than 30 minutes due to storm water clogging some culverts under the road, Colonel Al-Assimi added. The gushing water marooned some vehicles and caused them to veer off the road, he added. Lt. Col. Al-Assimi warned people to stay away from flood routes because they can be extremely dangerous.
