JEDDAH: The Jeddah Astronomy Society has warned people not to look at the sun during a partial solar eclipse set to occur in the Kingdom's sky next Tuesday. It advised people to use special binoculars not regular sunglasses. Majed Abu Zahra, Chairman of the society, said the eclipse is coinciding with Earth being at its nearest elliptical-orbit point to the sun. Abu Zahra said the eclipse will start in the northern parts of Africa at 9.40 A.M. Makkah time. It will then move towards the east until it reaches Saudi Arabia's sky, where the partial eclipse will start after 10 A.M. In the northern parts of the country, the largest part of the sun's disk will be invisible.
