An Indonesian housemaid, allegedly a victim of torture, died at the Central Dammam Hospital Sunday evening shortly after she was brought to the hospital by her employer. Hospital authorities and police who examined the body of the 33-year-old housemaid discovered traces of physical abuse, according to Colonel Yusuf Al-Qahtani, spokesperson of the Ministry of Interior in the Eastern Province. “Authorities who examined the body found out that she had bruises, contusions, fresh wounds and scars on her back, legs, and thighs and in other parts of the body,” Al-Qahtani said. He said the housemaid was reportedly on hunger strike and had not taken food for five days. Medical personnel who initially attended to housemaid said she was very thin and emaciated. The 45-year-old Saudi employer was immediately put under investigation by the police, according to Al-Qahtani. “If he is found guilty, he will be punished and sentenced for his crime, he said.
