ABHA: An Arabic language teacher here has developed a portable teaching cart which replaces expensive classroom electronic boards and eliminates the need for students to move to information technology laboratories for lessons. The cart has multiple up-to-date devices such as a high-end laptop, digital note recorder, data storage device, wireless audio speakers for students and teachers, and a screen to display information. The cart also eliminates the installation of expensive overhead projectors in classrooms and reduces dependence on traditional teaching tools such blackboards and chalk. Mohammad Al-Sa'di, who serves at an elementary Qur'an school, explained that his aim is to utilize modern technology in the field of education. The new invention eliminates chalk boards which harm pupils suffering from asthma and allergies, he said. “Using a (Digital Note Recorder) in place of a traditional board reduces the cost of installing an electronic board, which is very expensive.” Al-Sa'di pointed out that the use of electronic lesson material is more effective in class discussions, saves pupils time, in addition to improving their skills, and serves as an investment in modern technology.
