BURAIDAH: Prince Faisal Bin Bandar, Emir of Qassim, is set to open on Sunday the region's increasingly popular Kulaija Festival. The annual celebration of the region's famous biscuit-like bun is in its third year, and gives the chance for families in Qassim to display and sell all manner of food products and other wares. The success of the festival led organizers to look at setting up a permanent market at the site to remain open all year round. “We are in the process of discussing the move, and we hope to have it up and running soon,” said festival organizer Fahd Al-A'yiri. “It is at the top of our list of objectives and we want it to be a complete production center for marketing and training.” The festival began more as a charity event but soon developed into an opportunity for families in the region to promote the traditional goods they produce at home.
