AFLAJ, WADI AL-DAWASIR: Investigations into the Friday shootout between security forces and suspected members of the deviant group at Al-Mutallath Checkpoint are under way. In the incident, the 17-year-old driver of the car was caught and his fellow passenger dressed as a woman was shot dead after he opened fire on the security men, said Maj. Gen. Mansour Al-Turki, spokesman of the Ministry of Interior. Investigations have so far revealed that the man who was disguised in women's clothing belonged to the deviant group and the ministry will issue a statement when investigations are complete, he said. The slain man's intentions can only be exposed after all pertinent information is collected, he added. Okaz/Saudi Gazette has learned that the two were heading to Riyadh in a Toyota Corolla and that the arrested suspect has been taken to Riyadh. Investigations have shown that the wanted deviant lived in a Jeddah hotel, had a connection with some people living in the region and had established relations with the juvenile three months ago, when the young man drove him to Makkah and returned together to Jizan, Maj. Gen. Al-Turki said. Three days before the incident, the suspect who got killed Friday, had communicated with the juvenile by e-mail and mobile phone and asked him to come to Jizan to take him to Riyadh, he added. Authorities have learned that the juvenile lives in Al-Zahir District in Makkah and he was not carrying any ID at the time of the incident and had in his possession two copies of resident permits belonging to two Arabs.
