TABUK: The Traffic Police Department in Tabuk is asking motorists to update their information ahead of the introduction of the Saher speed cameras in the region. The regional Emir has also ordered that the system only be put into operation after all the necessary speed limit signs are in place. “There will be 200 signs erected on every road inside and outside urban areas,” said Muhammad Al-Najjar, director general of Tabuk Traffic Police. “The infrastructure is already in place to install cameras at traffic lights and on roads, and measures for the introduction of mobile traffic camera vehicles are nearly finished.” An extensive public awareness campaign on the Saher system that has been launched in Tabuk will be stepped up in the next few weeks to include SMS mobile telephone messages to the public informing them of the system.
